Why I Cloth Diaper

This is my daughter, Audrey and I. When she was 2 months old she broke out into a horrible diaper rash. We tried everything we could think of; A&D, Desotin, Balmex, Aveeno, Pampers, Huggies, Luvs, Sensitive Pampers, Pure & Natural Huggies, etc.

Nothing helped. Somethings made it angrier, actually.

This went on for two months until our lovely pediatrician, suggested that we try cloth diapers.

My first thought was, not again! We tried cloth diapers with our older daughter, Sydney, when she was 22 months old. We used a local diaper service, which was prefolds and a cover, and this was disastrous. I didn't understand that there were different types of covers. I didn't know what a wet bag was. And I was tired of my tiny apartment smelling like odor-eaters! So that didn't last long.

Luckily for me, two of my close neighbors and friends used cloth diapers. So one day I went over to both their houses to take a look at their diaper stuff. I couldn't believe all the stuff that I'd been missing with my previous experience! Cloth wipes, wet bags, diaper spray, detergent, Flip, Fuzzibunz, BumGenius, Kawaii, snaps, Velcro, the list just went on and on!

One of my friends was using Kawaii's, and she really liked the Velcro, and was planning on getting rid of the snaps, so she let me borrow them to see what I thought.

Within 12 hours, my daughter's bum was healed. And we didn't see another rash until she was 8 months old.

Due to teething, and the weather changing her skin has gotten irritated again. So we are back to fighting, back to trying everything we can get our hands on/afford.

And thus the blog story begins! :)
